Kenneth Peterson

February 28, 1934 — November 30, 2006

Kenneth P. Peterson, 72, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Thursday, November 30, 2006, at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Monday, December 4, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Graveside and military services will be at 1:30 pm at Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock, Iowa. Visitation is from 4 pm to 7pm on Sunday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.

Kenneth was born February 28, 1934, at Bancroft, Iowa, the son of Peter O. and Marie Dorothy (Rambath) Peterson. He attended Bancroft Public School and in 1994 his family moved to Algona, Iowa where he graduated from Algona High School in 1953. Kenneth served in the U.S. Marine Corps from November 3, 1953 to November 4, 1956 in the South Pacific during the Korean Conflict. On September 28, 1957 he was united in marriage to Nedra Heise at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, Iowa. Kenneth and Nedra lived in Waterloo until purchasing a bakery in Eldora in 1963. Kenneth operated the bakery for 15 years then worked for the HyVee Bakery and Nash Finch Bakery until his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, Walter-Sayer Post 182 of the American Legion, and several bakery associations. He enjoyed fishing and golfing in younger years, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife, Nedra; daughters, Lela Marie Murch (John) of Indianapolis, Indiana and Lesa Ann Ramson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Steven Lynn Peterson of Eldora; grandchildren, Johnny Murch (Amy), Daniel Murch, and Matthew Ransom; great grandchild, Logan; and sister Maxine Lashbrook. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Orville and Marvin; and sisters, Tressie and Luella.
