Joyce was born on September 28, 1954 in Eldora, the daughter of Glenn & Georgia (Faust) Miller. She grew up in Hubbard, graduating from Hubbard High with the class of 1972. After high school, Joyce attended AIB College and earned a two year business degree. She then worked in the meteorology department at Iowa State University. Later she went on to work for United Suppliers for a short time. On July 26, 1975, Joyce was united in marriage to Robert Frank Cook in Hubbard. The couple welcomed two children into their family, Janelle & Jared. Joyce helped Rob with his family's farm and in 1989, Rob and Joyce farmed together on the Century farm and was later joined by Jared and Casey and their families in the family farming operation.

She was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church, was a Sunday school teacher, a New Providence township trustee, was on the Eldora Children's Center Day Care board, was a former Eldora New-Providence school board member and a former 4-H leader. Joyce enjoyed Ragbrai, camping, enjoyed the annual Miller shopping trips and loved being involved in her children's activities all throughout their lives. What Joyce truly enjoyed most in life was her family and she especially loved being a Grandma to her 4 grandchildren. She will truly be missed by her family, friends, all who knew and loved her and her two special friends, her dog Roscoe and her cat Maui.

Joyce is survived by her mother Georgia Miller of Hubbard; children Janelle Cook-Guiles (Casey) of Union and Jared (Angie) Cook of Union; 4 grandchildren Ava & Cash Guiles and Adeline & Laney Cook; sister Carol (Jerry) Rash of Union and brother Keith (Jean) Miller of Hubbard; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Glenn Miller; husband Robert; father and mother-in-law Frank & Phyllis Cook.
