John Schildroth

July 23, 1959 — September 15, 2009



John A. Schildroth, 50, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastors Allan Mittler & Joel Love officiating. Burial will follow at the Dysart Cemetery in Dysart. Visitation will be Friday, September 18, 2009, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, with the family present to greet friends.




John was born on July 23, 1959 in Grundy Center, IA, the second child of George D. & Lou (Smeal) Schildroth. John was raised on the family farm in rural Reinbeck and attended Reinbeck High School. He later transferred to Hawkeye Tech., where he obtained his degree in welding. John later met and married Wanda Van Hauen. They were united in marriage on May 9, 1987 in rural Fern, Iowa. Born to the couple was a daughter Kari and the couple later divorced. John worked as a welder and was most recently employed by Bowker Mechanical Contractors in Cedar Rapids, IA. He was a member of UAW Local 125 of Cedar Rapids. John enjoyed camping, deer and coon hunting, mule riding and spending time with his family and friends.




He is survived by his daughter Kari of LaPorte City; parents George D. & Lou of Reinbeck; sister Edna (Dan) Gurney of Dexter, IA and their children Holly & Justin Gurney & brother Dave Schildroth of Reinbeck and his son Aaron Schildroth. John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Aaron & Blanche Schildroth and maternal grandparents William & Carrie Smeal.
