John Frederick Muller, 93, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Parkersburg, Iowa passed away of natural causes, on Sunday, November 18, 2012, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice at the Newaldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, just west of Fern, Iowa. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, from 4 pm until 8 pm at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the family.
John was born on May 8, 1919 on the family Farm west of Fern, Iowa; the son of Heine K. and Florence Kalkwarf Muller. John attended country school at Pleasant Valley # 7. He was united in marriage to Sophia Henze on March 10, 1944 at the Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Holland, Iowa. John farmed the family farm his entire life until his retirement in 1983.John was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing pool. He loved socializing at church before services and at the coffee fellowship. John's true joy came from spending time with his family especially at family gatherings.
John is survived by his wife Sophia; daughter Beverly Muller of Chandler, AZ; sons Gordon Muller of Davenport, IA, Kenneth (Cathy) Muller of Montezuma, IA, Larry (Glenda) Muller of Ames, IA, Dennis and Marvin Muller both of Parkersburg, IA and Richard (Jody) Muller of Cedar Falls, IA; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Clarence and Harvey Muller and daughter-in-law Janni Muller.
