Jim Schultz

Herman "Jim" Schultz, 95, of Eldora, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center of Eldora while under the care of Iowa Hospice. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is on Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.



Jim was born October 6, 1912 on his family's farm in Jackson Township, rural Eldora, son of Max F. and Martha (Schwebke) Schultz. He attended Country School and Eldora High School later continuing his education at Iowa State University earning a boiler maintenance degree. On December 18, 1935 he was united in marriage to Louise Roll at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Parsonage.



Jim worked as a farm hand until 1946 after which he moved to Eldora and leased a service station. He then worked at Wood Auto Co. as a mechanic for 18 years then at the Eldora Hospital for 11 years as maintenance Engineer retiring in 1979. After retirement Jim continued to work at various odd jobs. Jim's wife, Louise died on November 28, 1984 and on May 10, 1986 Jim married Dorothy Lawson Schwebke in Las Vegas.



He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Eldora Fire Department, Iowa Firemen's association, and the Iowa Hospital Association. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and dancing.



Surviving is his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Lola (Walter) Reinert of Hubbard and Maxine (Max) Daleske of Eldora; step-children, Ronald (Sandra) Schwebke of Des Moines, Patricia (Dennis) McKenna of Eldora, Rick Schwebke of Lancaster, California; step-daughter-in-law, Barbara Schwebke of Palmdale, California; 8 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren, and 3 step-great-great grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Louise; his parents; brother, Carl Schultz; infant twin brother and sister, Max and Martha; sister, Dorothy Houck; half-sister, Irene Meyer; great grandson, Ian Josiah Daleske-Ford; step-son, Roger Schwebke; and step-great-great granddaughter Brandy Schwebke.
