Jacqueline “Jackie” L. Thayer, 78, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora while under the care of Iowa Hospice. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Union , Iowa with Pastor Roger Crawford officiating. Following lunch at the church, burial will be at the Jackson Township Cemetery Berlin Cemetery ” near Owasa. Visitation is from 2 pm to 6 pm on Sunday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to C.E.F., Child Evangelism Fellowship in Jackie’s name.





Jackie was born June 5, 1931, in Iowa Falls , Iowa , daughter of Harry and Eulah (Huffman) Scott. She was educated in the Owasa school system graduating in 1949. On October 2, 1949 Jackie was united in marriage to Loyd E. Thayer and they made their home in the Eldora-Owasa area where they farmed and raised their family. She was a very active member of the Calvary Baptist Church , and remained busy with a mail ministry, mailing cards and letters to many people in her community and also to many international missionaries. She also led many community Bible studies and volunteered with the American Cancer Society.





She is survived by her husband, Loyd; children, Karen Thayer of Plover, Wisconsin, Bill Thayer of Indianola and his wife Kathy, and Jim Thayer of Eldora and his wife Cheryl; and by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Caryl Ann Thayer; and brother, Charles Scott.
