Idella Loewen

Idella L. Loewen, 86, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at the Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 27 at the First Assembly of God in Eldora, with Pastor Fred Rosenkrans officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Garden in Eldora. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.



Idella was born February 15, 1918 in Eldora, daughter of Walter "Ray" and Clarissa "Merne" (Johnson) Trout. On February 21, 1936 she was united in marriage to Raphael "Ray" Loewen in Marshalltown. They lived in Steamboat Rock for a short time prior to moving to Hutchenson and Liberal, Kansas for several years during the war while Ray worked on the air base. She returned to Eldora in 1947. She was employed by Vinton Produce in Eldora where she candled eggs and then worked for Infantseat Company in Eldora for twelve years retiring in 1968. She attended the First Assembly of God during her later years. Idella enjoyed gardening, listening to country music, doing ceramics and crafting, and collected records, salt and pepper shakers, figurines, and porcelain dolls. In 1999 she moved to the Hubbard Care Center after breaking her hip.



Surviving Idella is her son, Ronald (Karon) Loewen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Betty Loewen of Eldora; sister Maggie Monroe of Eldora; and by nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 22, 1988; son, Richard Loewen; sister, Shirley Smith; brothers, Harold, Keith and Willard Trout; and grandson, Adam Loewen.
