Henrietta Primus

Henrietta Primus, 96, of Eldora passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Valley View Nursing & Rehab Center in Eldora, while under Care Initiatives Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Eldora United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will take place at the First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery in rural Wellsburg. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Henrietta was born on December 23, 1917 in Grundy County, Iowa to her parents Ebbo and Minnie (Ross) Heikens. She was raised in Grundy County and graduated from Wellsburg High School in the Class of 1935. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Primus on February 22, 1946 at the First Christian Reformed Church in rural Wellsburg. Together they welcomed two children into their family. Henrietta was very hard working and helpful to her husband on the farm and a wonderful mother to her children.

Henrietta was a longtime member of the Eldora United Methodist Church, where she was very involved in the women's group and a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a 4-H Leader. Henrietta loved gardening and she especially loved flowers. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her friends and family and enjoyed doing needle work and hand crafts. Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Henrietta is survived by her son Wendell E. (Kathy)Primus of Washington DC; daughter Mary J. Byers of Rock Island, IL; grandchildren Kim (Brian) Hofstra, Tim (Polly) Primus, Craig (Christine) Primus, Bradley (Kystie) Primus, Tanya (Anson) Abraham, Leah (Mike) Lowrey and great-grandmother of 11. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Benjamin Primus; brother Everett Heikens and grandson Matthew Reindl.
