Harriet Linder

November 13, 1916 — February 15, 2010

Harriet Linder, 93, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Monday, February 15, 2010, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital’s Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center, Iowa. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2010 at French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, with Pastor Joel Love officiating. Interment will be immediately following the service at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at French-Hand Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care 201 E. J Avenue Grundy Center Iowa 50638.


Harriet was born on November 13, 1916, in Reinbeck, IA to Frank and Janet Gange. Frank was the local funeral director in Reinbeck at that time and Harriet lived in the funeral home that is currently French-Hand Funeral Home with her family. Harriet graduated from Reinbeck High School in the Class of 1934, and from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, IA.


She was united in marriage to her husband Lester Linder on September 17, 1952 in Kirksville, Missouri. They made their home and raised their children in Reinbeck. She worked as a Secretary/Bookkeeper for many local businesses in Reinbeck as well as the Iowa Department of Agriculture. She was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ as well as a 57 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Harriet was a loving mother, devoted grandmother and a wonderful friend and will be missed and long remembered by her friends and family.


Harriet is survived by her sons Dennis Linder (Rebecca Ross) of River Forest, IL, Dana (Mary) Linder of Reinbeck, IA; her daughters Karen Linder of Rochester, MN, Karol Linder of Reinbeck, IA; her grandchildren Anne Linder of Alexandria, VA, Matthew Linder of River Forest, IL, Jenny Linder of River Forest, IL, Nick Linder of Cedar Rapids, IA, Chris Linder of Waterloo, IA and Allie Linder of Clinton, IA.


She is preceded in death by her husband Lester; parents Frank Gange and Janet Gange Coder; step-brother Douglas Coder of Amarillo TX and Step-sister Betty Coder Conroy of Vista, CA.
