Harold Wayne Mabe, 64, of Eldora, passed away on Monday July 6, 2009 at his home while under the care of the
Iowa River
Hospice and under the care of his loving wife Vonda. Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Friday July 10, 2009 at the
Community
Church
of Union in
Union
,
IA.
A visitation will be held on Thursday July 9
th
from 6 to 9 pm at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora and 1 hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.
Harold was born on August 11, 1944 in Eldora, IA, the son of Vernita (Morrill) & Ira Mabe.
He received his education in the Union school district. He married Ardis Mooney on June 2, 1963 and born into this marriage was 1 son. He later married Darla Balvanz and born to the couple was 1 daughter. Harold and Vonda Boggess were married June 18, 2009 in Eldora.
He drove trucks for Dodger Manufacturing for 13 years and more recently worked maintenance for the
Eldora-New
Providence
School district
. He enjoyed tractor pulls, mowing, tilling and plowing.
He is survived by his wife Vonda; children Allen (Melissa) Mabe of Steamboat Rock, IA & Robyn (Travis) Savchenko of Cedar Rapids, IA; step-children Sara Rawson, Jessica Melville, Rodney Balvanz & Bill (Gretchen) Crooks; 16 grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren; a sister Audrey (Jim) Schueller of Eldora, IA. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Linda Cole & a brother Clifford “Kip” Mabe.
