Harlan Standorf

November 17, 1935 — December 3, 2005

Harlan Curtis ?H.? Standorf, 70, of Eldora, died from injuries sustained in an accident on Saturday, December 3, 2005 in ELdora. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 8, at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora with Pastor Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Garden in Eldora. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. A memorial fund is being established in his name.



Harlan was born in Waukon, Iowa, son of Harvey and Carlotta (Moen) Standorf. He was educated in northeastern schools. On May 31, 1958 he was united in marriage to Karen Jo Troester in Giard and they moved to Eldora in 1970. Harlan and Karen owned and operated a local trucking business. Harlan's main focus and joy in life was his family. He enjoyed trucking, horses, coffee time uptown, and telling a good joke. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eldora.



Surviving Harlan is his son, Gregory Standorf of Eldora; daughters, Michelle and husband Rod Ryan of Eldora and Kelly Standorf of Scottsdale, Arizona; four grandchildren, Danielle Butler and husband Ryan of Eldora, Iowa, Lacey Ryan of and finance John Wilaby of Eldora, Iowa, Alesha Bartsch of Eldora, Iowa, and H. Wylie Simpson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; 2 brothers: Ron and wife Linda Standorf of Dubuque, Iowa, and Allan and wife Sandi Standorf of Steamboat Rock, Iowa; sister, Sandra and husband Frank Schlitter of McGregor, Iowa; and a special friend, Sandy Smith of Eldora. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen Jo; his parents, sister: Shirley and her husband Don Johanningmeier.           .
