Gail Buskohl

Gail Buskohl, 89, of Lincoln, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center, Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3rd, 1:30 P.M. at the Salem Church of Lincoln in Lincoln, IA. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Gladbrook. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2nd from 5 to 8 P.M. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center with a 7 P.M. Eastern Star Service conducted by the Coinette Chapter 273 of Reinbeck, IA. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Gail was born on March 5, 1922, on the family farm in Felix Township, Grundy Center, the daughter of James T. & Wilna (Sheldon) Clarke. Gail attended grade school at Felix #5 and graduated from Conrad High School with the class of 1941. She attended Business College in Marshalltown, IA for two years. Gail worked at Fischer Governor from 1944 until 1949.

Gail was united in marriage to John Buskohl Jr. on February 14, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Conrad, IA. They welcomed four children into their family. Gail and John made their home in rural Holland and farmed there from 1949 until 1960. They moved to Lincoln and continued to farm until 1976. They then built a new home and moved into town.

Gail was an active member at the Salem Church of Lincoln and belonged to Living Branches and was a Boy's Club Sponsor. She also was a member of the AMVET Auxiliary, Eastern Star for 70 years, the Ostfriesen Heritage Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Royal Neighbors, Lincoln Commercial Club and she was a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Gail is survived by her husband John of Lincoln; children Nancy (Steve) Butler of Loon Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, Jim (Sue) Buskohl of Reinbeck, Iowa, Jerry (Debra) Buskohl of Waterloo, Iowa & David Buskohl of Lincoln, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Sisters Phyllis J. Clarke, Doris Jean Clarke & a sister in infancy.
