Fannie Bruns

March 10, 1929 — May 19, 2011

Fannie Bruns, 82, of Dike, Iowa died on Wednesday, May 18, at Satori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Reformed Church of Stout, Iowa with Pastor Dave Vander Leest officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg, Iowa. Visitation is from 4 pm to 7 pm on Sunday, May 22 at the Engelkes-Abels Dike Chapel in Dike, Iowa.

Fannie was born March 10, 1929 in rural Butler County, Iowa near Allison, daughter of Dick Sr. and Alice (Swygman) Oltman. She was educated in country school and Parkersburg High School. On February 20, 1951, Fannie was united in marriage to William Jurgen Bruns at the Reformed Church of Stout. They farmed several years in Butler and Grundy Counties then moved to Dike in 1960. She worked several years as a custodian at the Dike Community School and also did housekeeping in several homes. She enjoyed cleaning and also had interests in gardening and fishing. She was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Bruns of Dike; and sisters, Helen Druvenga of Parkersburg and Jadean (James) Tripp of Reinbeck. Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, William in December 2002; by her parents; and infant daughter, Janet; brothers, Ernest, Reiner, John, Ben, and Dick Jr. Oltman; and by sister, Trena Dreesman.
