Evelyn Campbell

March 4, 1921 — September 24, 2006

Evelyn Campbell, 85, of Gifford, Iowa, died from natural causes Sunday, September 24, 2006, at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, September 28 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is from 5 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.



Evelyn Harda Ellamae Campbell was born March 4, 1921 near Hubbard, Iowa, daughter of Homer T. and Laura C. (Orgell) Munson, and was educated in country school near Buckeye, Iowa. In May of 1937 Evelyn married James W. Blair and this marriage ended in divorce. She was then united in marriage to W. Dale Campbell on July 16, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora and they made their home in Gifford. She worked at the Ordinance Plant in Ankeny and for Dr. Schlamp as a dental assistant in her early years, and then stayed at home to raise her family. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Ladies Aid and served on the quilting committee. She enjoyed weaving rag-rugs and received many ribbons at the Iowa Cattle Congress where they were displayed. She also enjoyed playing the organ and reading.



She is survived by her children, Leland (Kay) Blair of Falls Church, Virginia, Ann (Michael) Gunion of Springfield, Missouri, and Drew (Tamara) Campbell of Gifford; brothers, Daniel (Junice) Munson of Eldora and Howard Munson of San Francisco, California; sister-in-law, Peggy Munson of Warsaw, Missouri; granddaughters, Katherine Hendrickson, Sarah Gunion, Christina Gunion, and Laura Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Grace, and Tyler Hendrickson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale in July of 1977; by her parents; brother, Rodger Munson; and sister and brother-in-law; DaLela "Dee" and William Nowasell.
