Eugene "Gene" Kadolph, 86, of Eldora, Iowa, died Sunday, November 25, 2007, at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora, Iowa, with Father Paul Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Eldora, with full military rites provided by Walter-Sayer Post No. 182 of the American Legion and the V.F.W Roll-Harless Post No. 3974. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, 2007, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a 5:00 P.M. Rosary Service at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. A memorial fund has been established.

Albert Eugene "Gene" Kadolph was born January 25, 1921, in rural Iowa Falls, Iowa, the son of Albert Herman and Lela (Fuller) Kadolph. Gene received his education in Owasa, Iowa, graduating from the Owasa High School. On February 5, 1944, Gene was united in marriage to Frances Rahfeldt. Gene served his country during World War II, enlisting in the United States Army on August 25, 1944 and serving as a military policeman until December 22, 1945 when he was honorably discharged. Gene owned and operated Kadolph General Store in Robertson, Iowa, for several years. He then purchased a grocery store in Belmond, running that until he bought a grocery store in New Hartford, Iowa. Gene worked at Don's Super Value in Eldora and then he owned and operated Kadolph Homemade Candies in Eldora for seven years. Gene also owned and operated a restaurant in Waterloo, Iowa; worked for the Gamble Robertson Company in Waterloo; and also the Curtis Candy Company. Gene also operated a candy store in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. Gene retired in 1989. His wife Frances died on March 14, 2002, and he continued to make Eldora his home.

Gene was a faithful member of St. Maryss Catholic Church in Eldora; and he had achieved the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Walter Sayer Post No. 182 of the American Legion. Gene enjoyed gardening. He especially loved to grow flowers.

He is survived by two grandsons-David Glenz and his wife Karen of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; Daniel Glenz of Waterloo, Iowa; two great-grandsons-Evan and Samuel Glenz; one son-in-law Mike Glenz of Waterloo, Iowa; three brothers- Bernard Kadolph of Story City, Iowa; Larry Kadolph and his wife Grace of Eldora, Iowa; Ron Kadolph and his wife Karen of Eldora, Iowa; two sisters-Mary Lou Harman and her husband Don of Carroll, Iowa;

Rita Sue Allen and her husband Darrell of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife Frances; and three daughters- Seba Joyce Kadolph, Diana May Kadolph, and Pamela Kay Glenz.
