Delbert E. Rogers, 76, of Eldora, died at his home on Friday, September 25, 2009 while under the care of Iowa Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, September 28, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldora with Father Paul Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Eldora. Visitation is from 5 pm to 8 pm on Sunday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with a rosary beginning at 5 pm and prayer services starting at 7:30 pm.





Delbert Eugene Rogers was born April 26, 1933 at his parent’s home in Eldora, son of Edwin and Anna (Dole) Rogers. He was raised in Eldora and on June 8, 1957 married Deloris Ann Otto at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and they made their home in Eldora. Delbert worked a short time as a mechanic for Kuhlman Chevrolet in Hubbard and then drove a truck several years for United Suppliers of Eldora before working as director of transportation for the Eldora-New Providence School System for 21 years. He retired from the school system in 1995. Delbert also volunteered several years pulling the Eldora Tram taking area nursing home residents around town and to Pine Lake State Park . Delbert continued to using his mechanical skills working on tractors of all colors, even though his favorite was green. He also loved to hunt and fish, but his greatest joy came from helping out his families and friends with whatever they needed. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldora.





He is survived by his bride of 52 years, Deloris; children, Tom and Lori Rogers of Des Moines , Deb and Tom Priske of Eldora, Mike and Kelli Rogers of Eldora, Mary and Dale Graffunder of Eldora, and Ed and Jamie Rogers of Des Moines ; and by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
