Debbie S. Collins, 54, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, October 8 at the First Baptist Church in Eldora with Pastor Roger Crawford officiating. Visitation is from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Following cremation, interment will follow at a later date in the Eldora City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family and will be used for special needs at Valley View Nursing and Rehab. To send messages of condolence or to view the complete obituary, please visit www.abelsfuneralhomes.com.




Debbie was born November 10, 1955 at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, daughter of Ken and Vi (Brock) Collins. She moved often with her military family, living at several Air Force Bases throughout the United States, and also in Guam and Italy. She graduated from Desert High School at Edwards Air Force Base in California in 1973. In 1974 Debbie made her home in Eldora where she worked at the Eldora Nursing Homes as a CMA, CNA, social worker, and marketing and activities director. She has resided at Valley View since March of 2008.




She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eldora where she had served as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. Debbie enjoyed drawing, crafting, cooking and decorating cakes, and her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandson, Brock.




Surviving is her son, Jim Collins (Tonya Zeisneiss) of Hubbard; parents, Ken and Vi Collins of Eldora; grandson, Brock; sister-in-law Pam (Steve) Schaller of Clear Lake; nieces, Jamie (Shannon) Balvanz, Missie (Ryan) Lafrenz ; and nephew, Jessie (Jen) Collins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rick Collins.
