Darlyne Goodman, 85, of Grundy Center, Iowa



Darlyne Goodman, 85, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Thursday, November 25, 2004, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center, Iowa, of natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, November 27, 2004, at the United Methodist Church, in Grundy Center, Iowa, with Pastor Lee Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established.

Darlyne was born November 21, 1919 the daughter of Guy and Maude (Starr) Bailey in Grundy Center, Iowa. Darlyne graduated from High School in 1937. Where she played basketball and was named to the third team Allstate in the 1935 Iowa State Championship in which Grundy Center placed third. She worked in the local drug store and for 2 local doctors. She then attended Nursing School in Grundy Center. She worked as a school librarian in the Reinbeck School System. In December 1945 Darlyne married Charles Goodman in Des Moines, Iowa. Darlyne was involved in the community. She was active in raising money for the Grundy Center Community building. Darlyne was a member of the P.E.O. and the United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother: Keith Bailey.

Darlyne is survived by her two sons: Charles Bailey Goodman of Chicago and his wife Marsha, Greg Goodman and wife Susi of Grundy Center; three grandchildren Kim Goodman, Dane Goodman, and Bailey Goodman, many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
