Craig W. Stackhouse, 51, of Marshalltown , Iowa died from natural causes on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Iowa Veterans’ Home in Marshalltown . Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Liscomb Church of Christ in Liscomb, Iowa with Pastor Troy Emley officiating. Burial will follow in the Conrad Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Visitation is at the Liscomb Church of Christ on Sunday, July 19 from 5 pm to 7 pm. A memorial fund will be established in Craig’s name and will be directed to the Iowa Veterans’ Home. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is in charge of the arrangements.





Craig was born May 1, 1958 in Marshalltown , son of Richard and Janet (Hilsabeck) Stackhouse. He was raised and educated in Marshalltown , graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1976. He attended Iowa State University for two years where he studied agri-business and then farmed in the Marshalltown area until 2004 when he became ill. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from July 2, 1979 until July 1, 1983. He was stationed in Turkey for a year and then at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha , Nebraska . He attained the rank of Sergeant. After his active military service he served with the Iowa Air Guard, 132 Air Squadron, for 12 years. He was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ and Post #681 of the Conrad American Legion.





Craig is survived by his parents, Richard and Janet Stackhouse of Marshalltown ; brothers, Kirk of Portland, Connecticut and Kent (Debora) of Waterloo ; and nieces Jessica and Brooke. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wayne and Dorothy (Fiscus) Stackhouse and maternal grandparents, Delbert and Olive (Ridgeway) Hilsabeck.
