Colleen Guiles

March 30, 1929 — February 25, 2008

Colleen F. Guiles, 78, of Union, Iowa died from natural causes on Monday, February 25, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm on Friday, February 29 at the Church of Christ in Union with Pastor Rick Schill officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Cemetery near Union. Visitation is from 6 pm ? 8 pm on Thursday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the Union Church of Christ or the Gifford United Methodist Church.



Colleen was born March 30, 1929 in rural Whitten, Iowa, daughter of Emmett "Jap" and Elma (Hall) Steelman. She attended grade school in Gifford then graduated from Eldora High School in 1947. On August 23, 1947 Colleen was united in marriage to Harold G. Guiles at the Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri. Harold and Colleen lived and farmed near Union except from 1958 to 1965 when they lived in Arizona. They moved from the farm into Union in 1996. Colleen was a member of the Gifford United Methodist Church where she served with their ladies organization, WSCS, and had been attending the Union Church of Christ serving with their ladies. She also held offices with the Rural Carriers Auxiliary and served on their state board for five years, and was a member of South Hardin Kiwanis.



Surviving is her husband of over 60 years, Harold; son Rick (Connie) Guiles of Union; brothers, Gene (Audrey) Steelman of Gifford and Jody (Sharon) Steelman of Gifford; grandchildren, Casey (Janelle) Guiles of Union and Quenten (Michelle) Guiles of Union; great-grandchildren Wyatt, Ava, and Westin; and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
