Clyde Arthur Davison was born on February 22, 1921, in Des Moines , Iowa , to Paul T. and Ruby (Gates) Davison.  At the age of four, his family moved to Eldora when his father was appointed to be the first park ranger/custodian at Pine Lake State Park . Clyde and his brothers grew up working in the park- planting trees, chopping wood, cutting block ice from the lake, and helping to build many of the structures which still stand at the park today.  Clyde graduated form Eldora High School in 1938.

In the years between his graduation and his marriage, Clyde worked as a “printer’s devil” at the Hardin County Index, was involved in Davison Produce Company, performed as an exhibition roller skater, and served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II.   After returning from the war, Clyde and his brothers started a small construction business, specializing in masonry and concrete work.  Their work expanded and they built many homes and buildings in Hardin and Grundy Counties .  The brothers eventually left the construction business to operate Davison Brothers Builders Supply.  The Davisons were in business in Eldora for 63 years.

In 1948, he married Dorothy Bottema, a native of Whitten , Iowa .  Their children include Debra (Allen) Johnson, Randy (Kay) Davison, Rick Davison, and Dennis Davison, who all are life-long residents of Eldora.  They also have two grandchildren:  Natalie (Dave) Kass, of North Liberty , and Christopher Davison, of Eldora, and two great- grandchildren, Taylor and Jordan Kass.

Clyde knew how to work, and worked until the day he was disabled by a stroke.  He enjoyed his family, telling stories about the lake and the town of Eldora , and taking rides in the car in the evenings.  He had been a member of the IOOF, the American Legion and the United Methodist Church in Eldora.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Deb and Allen Johnson, Randy and Kay Davison, Rick Davison, and Dennis Davison; brothers, A.L. “Bob” Davison of Eldora, Dean Davison of Eldora and Warren (Marilyn) Davison of Mason City; grandchildren, Natalie and Dave Kass, and Christoper Davison, and grandchildren, Taylor and Jordan Kass. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul E. Davison; and Grand-daughter, Megan Davison.
