Carl Dingel

January 15, 1916 — July 28, 2006

Carl J. Dingel was born on January 15, 1916 in Holland, IA, the son of John and Reka (Sitters) Dingel. When Carl was 8 years old, the family moved to Morrison, IA where he lived until April 2005, when he entered the nursing home in Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Carl owned and operated his own cattle truck before entering the Army during WWII. After returning home after the war, Carl worked at the Morrison CO-OP for a number of years. Carl married Allene Ramundt on April 7, 1951. Carl did some carpentry work on his own for some time then went to work for Moeller and Walter Construction. Before retiring, he worked for Huisman Brothers Tiling Co. Allene died on May 7, 1987.

In the winter, Carl liked to work in his basement building replicas of buildings, like the Little Brown Church, the Morrison Depot and his grandmothers house in Holland. When the Grundy County Museum was opened in Morrison, Carl donated many of his works to the museum.

Surviving relatives include many nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Allene; 2 brothers, Henry (Lillian) Dingel, Eddie Dingel; 2 sisters, Tena (Bud) Hummel, Elizabeth (Frank) Smith.
