Adelbert “Bob”Davison, 93, of Eldora, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Eldora Nursing & Rehab Center while under the care of the Iowa Hospice. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora, with Pastor Richard Boatman officiating. Burial will be immediately following the funeral service at Eldora City Cemetery. A military ceremony will be conducted at the cemetery by the Eldora American Legion Walter Sayer Post #182 and V.F.W. Roll Harless #3974.Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. A memorial fund has been established.


Bob Davison was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 10, 1916 to his proud parents Paul and Ruby Davison. He lived there until the family relocated to Eldora when he was eight years old. He graduated from Eldora High School and lived the rest of his life in Eldora. He was untied in marriage to his wife Lela on May 15, 1938 and welcomed three children to their family.


Prior to World War II Bob worked as a butcher. However, like many men of his generation he answered the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a cook during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he began his new career as a carpenter. Bob went to work for his brothers when they opened their new business Davison Brothers Building & Supplies. He worked there for over 40 years.


Bob was a member of the Eldora American Legion Post # 182. He was an active member at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora and served as a board member. Bob was on the Board of Directors of the Dorothy Senior Center in Eldora. He also served on the Hardin County Council on Aging.


Bob loved spending time with his family. He will be missed and long remembered by his friends and family.


Bob is survived by his children, Charlotte (Jim) Long of Denton, TX, Jack (Vicki) Davison of LeClaire, IA and Judy (the late Paul) Neymeyer of Eldora, IA; his brothers Dean and Warren (Marilyn) Davison; 7 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lela; his brothers Paul and Clyde and two step-grandchildren.
