Betty Ball, 81, of Eldora, Iowa died from natural causes on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Grundy County Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 8, 2010 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church 1105 Washington St. Eldora, IA 50627 with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow funeral services at the Eldora City Cemetery in Eldora. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be made to the church.


Betty was born on August 7, 1928 to her parents Henry and Bertha Lamasters in rural Hardin County, Iowa. Betty graduated from Eldora High school. She was united in marriage to her husband Glen A. Ball, Sr. on June 29, 1947. Betty and Glen welcomed five children to their family. They made Eldora their home in 1967 and lived there happily together until Glen’s death in 2004.


Betty worked for over 20 years at Eldora Hospital as a nurse’s aid. She was a dedicated long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. She loved to sew, crochet, fish and bird watching. Her family describes her and her husband as avid regional travelers. They traveled all over the state of Iowa.


Betty is survived by her sons Glen A. (Katie) Ball, Jr. of Yuma, AZ and Charles R. Ball (Kathy Wessels) of Dallas Center, IA; her daughters Kathleen (Roger) Struck of Eldora, IA and Susanne Sly of Eldora, IA; her 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Gerald Lamasters of Eldora, IA and Harold "Bud" Lamasters of Loveland, CO and sister Doris Stroh of Humboldt, IA. Preceded in death by her parents; husband Glen A. Ball, Sr. and daughter Patricia Ball and several siblings.
