Beth Eva Larsen, 82, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Friday, May 7, 2010, at her home in Reinbeck, Iowa, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Private family Memorial services will be Monday, May 10, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastor Terry Plocher officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 10, 2010 at the church. Per Beth's wishes, her body has been donated to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for scientific research. Memorials may be directed to the Endowment Fund at the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck or Cedar Valley Hospice, 310 E G Ave. Grundy Center, Iowa, 50638.


Beth was born on December 6, 1927, In Titonka, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Martha (Johnson) Bonacker. Beth attended Titonka elementary school and then graduated from Reinbeck High School. After graduation she attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. On November 3, 1946, Beth was united in marriage to Ernest Gilbert Larsen in Reinbeck, Iowa of which they shared sixty two years of marriage together. After their marriage they made their home in Reinbeck. In 1968, Beth and Ernest purchased the grocery store from her parents and it became known as Ernie's Super Valu. They owned and operated the store for seventeen years until they retired in 1985. She was a member of the Reinbeck United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women Club, a member of the Reinbeck American Legion Auxiliary, and PEO. She is survived by one son, James Larsen and his wife Linda of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Cari Haun and her husband Mark of Kewanee, Illinois; five grandchildren, Jessica, Anthony and his wife Vanessa, Jeremy and his wife Danielle, Tyler, and Casey; five great-granddaughters, one sister, Diane(Doug) Brotherton of Dubuque Iowa; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest and her parents.
