Alma Lutterman

Alma L. Lutterman, 93, of Grundy Center , Iowa , died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center , Iowa . Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, Rural Holland, Iowa with Pastors Larry Hoop and Larry Doughan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center .

Alma Leona Stahl Lutterman was born October 7, 1916 in rural Holland , Iowa , daughter of Andrew and Reka (Franken) Stahl. She grew up on the home farm ½ mile west of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church and was educated at Colfax Center #5. Alma worked alongside her family on the farm and on December 1, 1939 was united in marriage to Alvin Lutterman at the church parsonage. Alma farmed with Alvin until March of 1979 when they semi-retired. Alma also worked for the Grundy County Memorial Hospital from January 1964 through December of 1982.

She had been a member of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church since 1939 and she taught Sunday school, Bible school and Catechism for many years. She was also a member of the church choir, charter member of the W.I.C. and Sewing Workshop. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, baking, quilting and reading and she especially enjoyed visits from her family.

Alma is survived by her children, Ardyne Waters and her husband Bob of Wellsburg and Alan Lutterman and his wife Susan of Holland; sister-in-law, Grace Stahl of Grundy Center; grandchildren, Jeff Werkman and his wife Beth, Debra Spieker and her husband Jay, Andrew Werkman and his wife Angel, Jason Lutterman, Clint Lutterman and his wife Jody, and Dustin Lutterman and his wife Jody; and by great-grandchildren, Cole and Rachel Werkman, Kayla Albright, Hunter and Taylor Werkman, Nate and Kya Lutterman, and Drake Lutterman. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alvin on April 19, 2003; sisters, Esther Rindels and Luella Nederhoff; and brothers, Alvin and Vernon Stahl.
